Lately, I've been asking the people against gay marriage why they believe it should be illegal.  Here are some of the answers I've recieved:

• - It says in the bible that homosexuality is wrong. God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.
• - It is gross.  I don't be walking down the street and see 2 guys kissing!
• - Gay marriage isn't sacred like the marriage between a man and a woman.
• - If everyone became gay, it would kill off the human race!

Ok these are just the most popular answers. I'd like to take a moment to make a smart remark about each of these arguments:

• - Ok. Well first of all, Christianity is not the only religion in the world. Many people seem to forget this. The question I asked was "Why don't you think gay marriage should be legal?"  The government decision aren't based on "what the bible says". 
• - I'm so sorry for you. How horrible!  We should definitely make it illegal because you think it's gross. I mean really! How dare they be gay in public!  Oh yeah! Did you forget that people do that even though they aren't married? We aren't banning homosexuality, just homosexual marriage.
• - I think marriage lost it's sanctity a long time ago.  It seems like every marriage ends in divorce nowadays, and that is also against the bible, huh?  Marriage should be based on love.  Love is sacred.  A lot of marriages aren't based on love anymore.  Many gay couples have been together for over 20 years and are STILL together today.  Some regular marriages don't even last that long. 
• - Once again, this isn't about banning homosexuality, it's about banning gay marriage, ok? People will still be gay even if they can't get married, just like you would still be straight if you couldn't marry the one you loved.  And I highly doubt that everyone would become gay and end humanity.  This might actually be good for the poor children in the adoption agencies.  Gay couples sometimes want children, too.

I could go on and on, but I think I'll stop myself here.  I have a lot of other points to make later about other things.

I'm not gay but I do not think gay marriages should be illegal!! What is wrong with two people who happen to love each other?? If they truly have feelings for each other, they should be allowed to commit! I say this speech at school and I've been getting made fun of but I am not afraid to state my opinion! Hm.. I think I'm gonna add ya to my friends list. ^_^ Rock on and peace out.

hey thanks! i think your totally right. if only there were more ppl in america who felt the same way :-( ppl are always saying stupid stuff to me at school. that's partly why i'm doing this. see, i have to write a report about something i feel strongly about and this was the very first thing that popped into my head. i don't care what other ppl think anymore.

I know. :( Why do they think it's wrong? Who cares if it's disgusting, gay people probably think heterosexuality is disgusting! Man, there is nothing wrong with two guys/girls liking each other! Yeah and they can always adopt children too if they want children. It doesn't mean if someone's gay, EVERYONE's gonna copy 'em. Yeesh. :-?
